Is It Really So? How our Technicoat process compares to other products:
| 2007 High Performance ASTM B117 | What Others Say: That TechniCoat is average under Salt testing.
The Testing Results:
TechniCoat 10-2 just passed 4,500 hours of ASTM B117 (Salt fog)! Passing criteria was that of ASTM D1654. Testing was performed by an independent lab in Dallas, TX, USA.
The EPA references the AAMA 2604-05 for high performance classification as passing 3,000 hours. TechniCoat 10-2 successfully passed 1,500 hours OVER this requirement! |
| Flexibility | What Others Say: Poor, brittle, flakes
The Testing Results:
Brittleness is associated with standard phenolic coatings.
Our newest product - TechniCoat™ - is a
modified phenolic. It is amazingly flexible, compared to standard phenolic coatings, and was designed to expand and contract with the normal operation of an HVAC/R coil. This flexibility not only prevents tiny cracks from developing, but also allows OEMs to send in their coils "in the flat" and after receiving them back they then can form them to the design specifications on the unit in which they will be installed. This is not only convenient, but is cost effective saving as much as 50%! AME's TechniCoat™; flexibility is "Superior". |
| Coating Uniformity & Coating Penetration | What Others Say: Unknown & Gravity Driven
The Testing Results: Coating Uniformity is assured under three separate controls: 1. Preparation of the material surface 2. Procedural protocol 3. Highly trained technicians |
| Dry Film Thickness | What Others Say: Inconsistent 1 to 6 Mils
The Testing Results: Tested and measured, the average thickness of the new TechniCoat™; is 1.5 mils. With finish protective coat: overall average 2.5-3.0 with particular attention to the edging. |
| Fin Design | What Others Say: Non-Enhanced up to 15 FPI
The Testing Results: The new TechniCoat™; enhancement has been used successfully on everything from 6 fpi to 24 fpi AND on spiny-fin coils. |
| Salt Spray | What Others Say: 5000+ Salt Spray testing of E-Coats
The Testing Results: We challenge this data. Independent laboratory testing of E-coat (along with standard phenolic, TechniCoat 10-1™ and the new TechniCoat 10-2™) has been performed and data shows E-coat exhibited visual breach of coating at less than 1,000 hours under 4 standard salt/UV/acedic acid tests. TechniCoat's new formula - 10-2™ - was still running as best performer after 3,600 hours. Even standard phenolic coatings (also included in newest test) was not able to keep up with the new TechniCoat 10-2™. |
| Lead Times | What Others Say: ?
The Testing Results: Currently: 6 to 8 business days for coils, 8 to 10 days for units. Check our production update page for current lead time. Premium Time available for both coils (3 days) and units (5 days) for additional charge. |
| Thermal Loss | What Others Say: They state dip-coat 2% to 5% while theirs is less than 1%.
The Testing Results: Fact: TechniCoat; tested at 0.87%. One of our competitor's made statements to potential customers that the "dipped coating" process causes "bubbles to form between the fins", thus that area would have no coating. However, AME uses several specifically designed techniques to prevent "bubbles" from forming and "bridging" of coating between fins. |
