TechniCoat, Inc. originated in 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas. The company provided metal finishing services such as anodizing, chemical milling, plating, and various coatings (including Teflon, vinyl, phenolic, etc.) The design and custom engineering of special coatings for industries with unique corrosion problems soon became a specialty. In 1972, at the suggestion of Lennox Industries, TechniCoat decided to tackle the U.S. Navy’s need for a better coating for HVAC/R coils in salt-air atmospheres. The development of epoxy-modified phenolic yielded TechniCoat 10-1™. The coating proved to be so effective, and its use spread so quickly in the industry, that soon the company had to abandon all other services and products to keep up with the demand.
In 1990, TechniCoat moved to the “wide open spaces” of Bryson, Texas, about 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The company joined forces in 1990 with Aero-Marine Engineering, Inc. (AME). Then in 2000, AME became the sole corporation and owner of TechniCoat with TechniCoat 10-1™ as the product and service of AME.
For over 35 years, TechniCoat ™ was the HVAC industry’s benchmark for excellence when it came to anti-corrosion protective coating.
However...
With ever-greater environmental protection needs and requirements a new and improved TechniCoat needed to be developed. So, after comprehensive research and testing, in 2005, AME proudly announced that it was now providing the newest modern chemistry has to offer: the new TechniCoat 10-2™!
TechniCoat 10-2™ is the result of this development. Incorporating a resin based thermoplastic (alkyd-based air-cured) phenolic, improvements were made in 10-2's corrosion protection with added UV protection - a necessity for rooftop units. TechniCoat 10-2™ is also more environmentally friendly. |
